⚙ What Are RoboRepair Tutorials?
In addition to challenges, the campaign also contains RoboRepair Tutorials. Designed to teach you more about RoboCo, each of the tutorials requires you to “fix” a robot using the parts and constructs available to you in the tutorial.
To learn more, check out our guide here.
⚙ Progressing Through the Campaign
As mentioned earlier, the main way you progress through the campaign is by earning bits. In total, you can earn six bits from completing a challenge. The amount of bits you are awarded is based on your score at the end of the level. Your score is influenced by three factors: main objective completions, the cost of your robot, and the time it took for you to complete the challenge.
There are three main objectives per challenge, all of which vary in difficulty. Completing each main objective earns you 2000 points. If you complete all three main objectives, you are awarded 6000 points, which is enough to earn your three bits.
There is also a cost associated with each part or construct you use. The game assigns costs based on a variety of factors, including size, weight, and complexity. You can find the cost of a part or construct by hovering over its icon in the Parts or Construct menu. The higher the cost of your robot, the lower your score. Therefore, if you want to increase your chance of earning six bits, you should do your best to keep your robot’s cost as low as possible.
Speed is also a very important component of RoboCo’s scoring and rewards system. As soon as you hit play, the timer starts. The less time it takes for you to complete the challenge, the higher your score and the better your chance of earning six bits. However, keep in mind that completing more objectives also improves your score, so you need to strike a delicate balance between time management and objective completion..
NOTE: Causing property damage and upsetting humans can negatively affect your score. In fact, causing too much damage or upsetting too many humans will cause an emergency shutdown and stop you from completing the challenge.
⚙ Benefits of Beating the Campaign
There are many benefits to completing the campaign. On top of learning more and getting better at the game, completing challenges also allows you to use more advanced parts in earlier levels. This can make it easier for you to go back and either complete main objectives you were having trouble with or complete challenges faster.
Additionally, each challenge has a set of five secret objectives for you to complete. These secret objectives are hidden across the level and completing them awards you cosmetics you can’t find anywhere else in the game. For example, completing a secret in the Sandwich Server challenge can award you an extra tall chef’s hat while completing another challenge in Tippy Toe Tidy Up will award you a fancy sun hat.
