Illinois has seen a huge expansion of foreign investments in recent years. Since 2014, more than $1 billion worth of incentives have been awarded under Illinois Reimagining Energy and Vehicles program to businesses that offer electric vehicles and clean energy production. The program was announced last month. DCEO also provided PsiQuantum Manufacturing with an incentive package worth more than $200 million for their brand new high-tech facility located in East Alton.




Governor JB Pritzker accompanied by representatives of The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network and local officials today in Chicago to officially launch CZ Biohub Chicago - a groundbreaking research hub at the forefront of leading scientific research. The project will unite University of Chicago, Urbana-Champaign State University (UIUC) and Northwestern University researchers to study human tissue development as as develop groundbreaking therapeutics.




Governor JB Pritzker and Flender Corporation recently announced they are expanding their existing factory in Elgin which will create 50 full-time employees while maintaining the existing 140 full-time employees.




The Illinois Small Business Development Center located at Southern Illinois University is funded by a co-operative agreement among U.S. Small Business Administration, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Southern Illinois University. The Center provides entrepreneurs in the area with support for starting or expanding their businesses through programs such as free business planning workshops and one-on-one sessions with expert Business Advisors, and access to funding opportunities.




State leaders in Indiana are pushing employers to offer better pay and benefits as a way of keeping child care employees in the United States, who face a shortage of work. The decision comes after the closing of a child care facility located in Bronzeville which was struggling to retain staff.




Illinois Department of Labor also introduced an online tool to educate small businesses on lawful employment practices. Employers can search using keywords or browse categories on the site, and connect to appropriate state agencies and resources.




Illinois Business Development Authority (IBDA) is taking action to promote awareness of Illinois tax incentives for business expansion. They hosted an interactive webinar on this subject, which was recorded and will become archived and posted on their site.
