Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a popular measure of power, and is visible on all item tooltips. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.

Using the item level can help players evaluate the power of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it's capable of dealing with. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when looking at a vendor's inventory.

On PC, you are able to see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its value. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory states that the item level is calculated by a formula that calculates how valuable the stats of an item really are. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value and sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

It's not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item upgrader mod are a major component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by adding a name.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with the arrows that circle. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other rerolling options.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it is an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.

This is another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to boost. But as with base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item level, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more beneficial in the initial game run than in later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of an item, up to 140.

Furthermore there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be found in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The performance of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. All items have an average success rate of 25 percent, and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

Note that item upgrader kit (check out your url) upgrades are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects can be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade items overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
